Brown is an able and vastly experienced young professional who has dedicated his time, resources and talent to serving others. He has been the driving force in bottom-up community development work in some of Jamaica’s toughest inner-city communities since the turn of the 1990s.
Fresh from Wolmers’ Boy’s School at the age of seventeen (17), and following a placement of over five years at the Airports Authority of Jamaica in accounting and customer relations, and two years in the capacity of accounting supervisor at BWIA International Airways; Fabian was recruited to be the first Executive Director of St. Patrick’s Foundation in 1993; this post he held until 1999 when he was appointed Director of Development. He led the growth, development and recognition of St. Patrick’s Foundation into one of Jamaica’s most respected non-governmental organizations.
Fabian has diligently worked to forge alliances and partnerships in Curacao, New York, Washington, Miami, and other cities across the U.S., as well as in cities such as Peterborough, Toronto, Cobourg, and Kingston in Ontario, Canada, and UK (Christian aid) to address the struggles of Jamaica’s inner-city communities.  A popular and gifted animator and speaker, he has as his philosophy “a hand up not a hand out” and with this as his mandate, he continues his efforts of empowering others to take active responsibility of their own development.
To date, Brown has facilitated the establishment of community development programmes such as Youth Crime Watch Jamaica , the Community Development Councils of Seaview Gardens and Pear Tree Grove in St. Catherine. He has served as a member of both local and international election observer teams, is a member of Citizens Action for a Free and Fair Election (C.A.F.F.E. – Founding Director), Jamaicans for Justice, International Catholic Stewardship Council, Independent Jamaica Human Rights Counsel, and a friend of Jamaican Self-Help in Peterborough. His has been work within the Government sector as well as with USAID, UNDP, CIDA, DFID, and HABITAT for Humanity.
His exceptional ability of managing and motivating people led to the inception of the St. Patrick’s All Stars, a comprehensive youth-led development programme using music, performing arts and Capoiera to engender  change and violence reduction in the community of Seaview Gardens and its surroundings in January 2002. He served as the Executive Director of St. Joseph’s Hospital from 2003-2009, where he led the re-birth of the institution through active alliances with local and international partners in Canada, U.S. and the Caribbean.
Through the establishment of his business Value Added Services (VAS) in 2006, where he currently serves as CEO, Fabian and his team serves local and international organizations, individuals and communities through workshop facilitation, motivational sessions, training, events planning and management, resource mobilization and grant writing. VAS has achieved great success and continues to provide a value added experience for its clients.
To date, he has completed a number of post-secondary certificates in areas such as Managing Non-profit Organizations, Administrative Management, Accounting and Spanish while continuing his service to the poor. He continues to be actively involved in behaviour modification and transformation processes nationally and serves on the Boards of St. Patrick’s Foundation, HEART Trust NTA and the Stella Maris Foundation.
